How to Score Top Reviews for Your Franchise

Updated: Jul 23, 2019

When you have a franchise, you probably have many marketing strategies in place. However, you need to make sure that you have reviews from customers to back up your great service. Getting good reviews will make it easier for you to be visible in search engines and provide confidence to consumers.

Anyone can Google your business, read a few Google reviews, and have the information they need to make a decision. That means that the reviews posted to Google Reviews about your business can have a big impact. It’s important that you’re careful about incentivizing. You may not want to provide free products or coupons in exchange for reviews because the reviews themselves risk being inauthentic. Instead, randomly show your appreciation to those that have left reviews, such as an online “thank you” or a discount to everyone when you reach a certain number of online reviews.

Seek Quality AND Quantity

It’s important to focus on both quality and quantity when it comes to your reviews. With 88% of consumers trusting online recommendations as much as personal recommendations, online reviews matter. The good and the bad reviews matter for different reasons. However, any review is better than no reviews because it at least shows that your business is active. Positive reviews give you a better overall rating in Google, and a larger quantity of positive reviews can help to wash away any negative ones that you receive. A large number of reviews can also attest to how popular (and busy) your business is.

Simplify the Task

People aren’t going to go out of their way to leave a review for you unless it was really bad or really good. However, most consumers say that they will post a review if they are asked. This means that you need to learn how to ask for reviews. You also have to make it easy for people to leave reviews. If you ask people for a review and then give them a 10-step verbal tutorial on how to do so, most people won’t bother leaving you a review. Make it simple by giving people a link to where you want the review. Your Google business profile should be where you want to send most people so that it helps you with your local SEO. If people have to search for you, they probably won’t take the time to leave the review. Provide the link in an email when you send out newsletters to your mailing list. Add a QR code to the bottom of receipts to remind people to leave a review. You may want to remind people about leaving reviews (with a link) on social media, too.

Share Your Reviews

You can promote your reviews as a way to show people just how popular you have become. Many people want to receive an acknowledgment that they have been seen by the company. When you get a particularly positive review, be sure that you share it for more people to see. This will help the original poster to feel validated. It can also lead to more reviews, because others will want you to share their post. You can add great reviews to your website as well as throughout your business's social media. Scoring top reviews for your franchise can make it easier for people to find out about your location. Additionally, people will be more likely to try you out if they see that others have had a positive experience. Focus on customer service and asking for reviews to ensure that you get positive reviews — and a lot of them.
